Hi, I'm Kaori. I'm an Experience Designer based in Toronto, Canada.
"I love serving people. I want to improve their lives, and the world around them by designing efficient, accessible and inclusive experiences."
I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. I have a genuine passion for serving people and improving their lives. Prior to embarking on my career in the UX industry, I worked as a sales associate and in management positions in retail and hospitality companies. In this role, I found joy in identifying customers' needs and assisting them in achieving their desires. This experience heightened my interest in UX and product design roles.
With over 4 years of experience as a detail-oriented UX designer, I possess a deep commitment to creating usable and accessible experiences. I seek out opportunities to leverage my empathetic research and data-driven UX skills to enhance people's lives and contribute positively to the world around us.
Design Process
My UX design process is rooted in a structured approach that involves recurring steps:
Understand: I delve into comprehensive research to understand the subject of the project. At this phase, mainly discover its system, functions, tasks, vision and values. This process involves visualizing product/system diagrams, function and task analyses, identifying users and stakeholders, resources and documenting product/system requirements and constraints.
Empathize: I empathize with both front-end and back-end users, drawing on my rich experiences in the retail industry and utilizing various user research techniques. This process involves field studies, user interviews, gathering observations and synthesizing them into insights. At this phase, I focus on addressing “How might we” challenges to identify the root of the cause. My focus on diversity and accessibility plays a vital role in identifying the right problems and crafting inclusive user experiences.
Ideation: Armed with valuable insights from the research, I generate innovative solutions with collaborators using brainstorming techniques. At this phase, I utilize brainstorming 7 rules and focus on which idea can solve the right problems.
Prototyping: I make ideas tangible so that I can learn from the prototypes. Often use pen and paper, Figma and Adobe XD for prototyping and bringing to the next step.
Testing: Rigorous usability testing helps refine and validate the designs, ensuring they meet users' expectations and requirements.
Iteration: Constant evaluation and feedback loops allow for iterative improvements, leading to well-polished and user-centric final designs.
My aspiration as a UX designer is to create experiences that resonate with users, enhancing their interactions. I am passionate about designing solutions that cater to the diverse needs of users while promoting inclusivity and accessibility.
I am excited about the opportunity to bring my skills, creativity, and dedication to contribute to your team's vision and projects.
