This is a project to build a disinfection service robot application for front-end users and an application for Back-end users. The front end-user application is required to have a robot interface application, and mobile application to register disinfection points and routes, schedule auto disinfection sessions and track disinfection data. The Back-end application was required to manage front-users' access and track and analyze disinfection data.

The disinfection session includes UV-C light, which could be harmful to the user's health. Thus, it was necessary to provide a reliable and safe user experience.

Understanding Requirements and Business Needs
I conducted discussions with the engineering team, the development team, the QA team and the project manager to clarify requirements and user needs. I have created data tables and diagrams to help visualize requirements and business needs.
During the discussions, we indicated gaps regarding understanding requirements and user needs between teams. After several discussions, we achieved to have the same understanding regarding requirements and user needs with the whole team.

Research Personas / Precedents / Best Practices
Researched personas to understand user needs and user flow. The personas research allowed me to identify the context of use and additional requirements to enhance usability.
There are not many precedents of this product in the market yet. Thus, I decided to research precedents with each main function. Registering and recognizing location, Planning and scheduling, and tracking and analyzing. Breaking down the function to research precedents allowed me to find the best practices and guidelines efficiently.
Additionally, I have researched design guidelines and the best practices for each UI element such as colours, buttons, input box and forms. This research allowed me to make design decisions.
Design and Prototype
I have used Adobe XD to design and prototype the application.
During the design phase, I tested colour contrast using W3C guidelines to achieve standard accessibility.
To achieve efficient communication with the development team, I have created a design system guide and short videos of UI flow.
Usability Evaluation
I conducted a usability heuristic evaluation for each application prototype. The results indicated that we need to improve the UX writing of dialogue and error messages.
Since the system uses multiple dialogues and error messages to support usability, improving UX writing was essential. Thus, I researched UX writing standards and the best practices to have effective writing without making users hesitate to move next steps.
outcomes
I have provided multiple platform applications including the robot UI, mobile UI and web portal UI design. I included all the system requirements and business needs with a less complex user experience using UX research and industry standards and guidelines.
Currently, GlobalDWS is requesting satisfaction to publish the Disinfection Service Robot. We have received orders from customers inside and outside of Canada.
